Sunday at a hotel in France

Posted on Sun, 23 Aug 2020 by KiM

Unexpected dashes of colour and unique details can be found throughout hotel Le Clo?tre in Arles, France.?India Mahdavi’s trace is everywhere through an unusual mix of contemporary and rigid furniture made of warm, ancient stone, and hints of cheer and subtle eroticism that flirts with the 70s.?She infuses this place with well-being and delight, like she does everywhere else. The Designer India Mahdavi uses a palette of local colors that are both fresh and deep to illuminate Le Clo?tre and its épicerie.?She shows the greatest respect for the work of memory in this building, which has been sustained by successive types of architecture since the Middle Ages, if only by the choice of raw materials used in the claddings and in the custom-designed furniture, all of which is brought together in an expressive and singular way, giving Le Clo?tre a unique, magical dimension.?

The Burrows

Posted on Thu, 20 Aug 2020 by midcenturyjo

The Burrows has been a labour of love and is filled with an eclectic mix of treasures, bespoke finds and original artworks, some handed down through family and others sourced and collected by the couple from auctions, markets and salvage yards.”

This modest historic cottage with views over Freycinet and the Hazards is the perfect getaway on the rugged coastline on the east coast of Tasmania. As one reviewer put it “This is a place for lovers. Or couples, or old friends, or lovers of nature. But mostly for lovers.” And don’t we all need a little love these days.

Bali break

“A Mediterranean oasis in tropical paradise.”

Still dreaming of travelling outside of Australia. I think our borders will be closed for quite some time. It’s great to have some sense of security in these trying times but it doesn’t stop my mind wandering to distant lands … or in this case not so distant. Time for a little virtual getaway to Casa Palma in Canggu, Bali. Simple, uncomplicated holiday style.

Byron Bay coastal

It’s a holiday where I live. A three day weekend to get away, relax, rewind. The Cape Beach House designed by Uneek Interior Solutions in the Northern New South Wales coastal town of Byron Bay is a stylish bed and breakfast redolent of that laid-back sun, sand and surfing riff. Unfortunately the border between Queensland and New South Wales is closed and although this fab beach house is only a couple of hours away for now I’ll have to daydream of a future stay.

Hotel Menorca Experimental

Posted on Sun, 31 May 2020 by KiM

I could sooooo use a vacation and this hotel would be the perfect place to enjoy sun, warmth and do it in style. Menorca Experimental was created from a 19th century finca on 30 hectares of stunning land.?Surrounded by pine groves, fragrant juniper shrubs and wildflowers, the whitewashed compound has been carefully restored—including its original vegetable garden—by a team of local craftsmen under the guidance of interior designer Dorothée Meilichzon.?Only 5 minutes walk from our main finca follow our natural path and enjoy breathtaking views from the Menorca Experimental cliff point. Access to a secluded pebble beach Cala Llucalari is a 15 minutes walk.?If that didn’t sound perfect, take a look at the interior!!!
